Deinococcus radiodurans is listed in the Guinness
Book of World Records
as "the world's toughest bacterium." And for good reason: The microbe
can survive drought conditions, lack of nutrients, and, most important,
a thousand times more radiation than a person can.

nom scientifique du micro organisme qui dévore les
déchets nucléaires
est Deinococcus Radiodurans qui signifie "baie étrange qui
résiste aux
radiations".
Le Deinococcus peut oxyder le toluène et le dévorer.
Michael Daly et son équipe pensent rendre capable la
bactérie d'avaler et d'oxyder le toluène radioactif et le
trichloréthylène radioactif.
